I did my Korean flashcards today, and I only remembered about half of them. But I get credit for at least doing the flashcards.

Sometimes I put way too much effort trying to come up with a memory trigger for Korean flashcards

I am patting myself on the back for doing my flashcards tonight. Now that I am trying to learn the Hanja as well as the Korean on the 1000 Most Frequent Korean Words list, it feels like doing flashcards takes forever. I am pitiful at trying to hand write Hanja, and I then have to look them up to find out the stroke order. Really slows me down. So cheers for me plowing thru flashcards this week.

I find doing flashcards so BORING. But I just don't encounter the words enough through other activities. I need to do my flashcards every day.
    Why does my brain leak?

Icha I use howtostudykorean. They explain grammar and they give vocab. And they use them in sentences I wanted to try and make flash cards.

Julia See here for hundreds of homemade flashcards, as I try to find ways to remember the words. https://jreidy17.wordpress.com/flashcards/
I think remembering is a totally personal things, and now doubt flashcards I make can really help others. Yet I still share them here on Mindpasta, because it lets folks here know where my brain is studying.

I spend far too much time on Spider Solitaire, not enough time studying vocabulary. So I thought I would combine them by making cards with Korean vocabulary. It takes two decks to play Spider Solitaire.
This deck has Korean and Chinese numbers

I'm wondering if I should share my flashcards that I made on Cerego (because Smiles was talking about it earlier). They don't really have any direction (because I was finding words that I didn't know from reading) and they're not words you would learn when you're just starting out in Korean...Would anyone be interested in checking them out?

Read today that flashcards made by someone else are useless. You have to make your own, tied to your unique memories. That means none of the flashcards I have shared here are of any use. :-(
Reading "Fluent Forever". Interesting read. Making me think about memory and spaced repetition and IPA.

Jaeyoh They aren't useless at all. They are great. Even when made by someone else, they still are useful, that's why they use them in schools and places like that. However, making your own allows you to remember the process of making them. This memory tends to be triggered by the flashcard which leads to faster memorisation of the word/phrase/etc.

Write a comparative article on different flashcard systems and rate them.
    Plan: Learning
    D-Day: 09/01/2014
    Goal: Language
How to: I have reached saturation point with so many different flashcard programs. It is time to see which ones have better/worse features and come up with a short list for studying.
Rst. Ah! I forgot about this plan. Result: I am not using Memrise regularly and investigating Anki. I still make my own flashcards, but more often I will put the image in Memrise make the flashcard there. It is faster and produces a more uniform look. -

엘리사 파올라 I've tried Anki and other 2 android flashcard apps I don't remember the name, but the truth is I gave up on flashcards lol They don't work for me. I guess I'm not a flashcard type of learner But probably Anki might work very well for those who like flashcards

Julia Fruedian slip. I am NOW using Memrise.
I still like paper flashcards and my own MS Paint flashcards. I am eagerly awaiting my "A Rat's Tail" flashcards.
