You can learn to write your name in Japanese first. Since our names aren't Japanese use katakana to write it. It's used for loaned words and non-Japanese names. わたしは ハンア です. Romanized: Wa-ta-shi-ha Ha-n-na de-su. Read: Watashi wa Hanna desu.

Actually I talked to me Japanese today when I called to reserve a table in an Okinawa restaurant. I didnt expect a Japanese to pick up the phone. His Thai was awesome but when he asked for my last name, that was when he had to swap with a Thai staff. Cos I assured him that my last name is VERY long!
In November, I will start revising the basic Japanese I learnt over 10 years ago. I hope one month is enough for that. I need some basic tourist Japanese before I travel there
