I'm trying to learn past tense but different websites mention different things. One says about yin and yang vowels and the other say the last vowel ending whether it ends in ㅏ & ㅗ. Which do I follow? I'm so confused.

Actually yin=positive
Yang=negative
Vowels with those "short stroke" on top or on the right are positive/yang vowels, in past tense these vowels use 았.
Those with short strokes at the bottom/on the left are called yin/negative vowels and in past tense use 었

Emmli The thing that confused me was that there were more yang vowels in addition to ㅗ & ㅓ. And as the rule was those 2 use 았 and everything else uses 었. I'm like do the ones that were included as yang vowels use 았 or 었?
