    Natalie ahh I forgot the "ㅇ". hmmm just when I thought I had them down. Are these three the only ways to greet people, apart from the informal that is?

    to all who are helping me I know constantly asking for the Romanised is really annoying but it actually helps me with pronunciation and memorising what each hangule's letter is. I am still on the basics so I will need it for a while yet and I hope you guys can understand its just so I can get a better grasp of the language.

    goodnight all im outta here. on that note how do you say goodbye in Korean? leave comments and ill read them tomorrow
    11 years ago
    yjgift 안녕하세요 means hello and can be used for greeting any time of the day.
    안녕히 가세요 is good bye (used by a person staying to a person leaving cos 가 means go. It literally means "go well".
    안녕히 계세요 - good bye (used by a person leaving to a person staying. It literally means "stay well").
    All above are formal forms. The causal forms are
    안녕하세요 --> 안녕
    안녕히 가세요 --> 잘 가
    안녕히 계세요 --> 잘 있어

    yjgift I forgot good night.
    Formal: 안녕히 주무세요
    Casual: 잘 자

    in the notes "his" is written as "그남자의것" but pronounced "geunamjaeuigeot" but the last symbol "ㅅ" is for "s" not "t". why isn't it pronounced with the s at the end then?

    please tell me the Romanised of "사랑학다"... that's I love you right?
    11 years ago
    kwanning0606 사랑해=saranghae
    11 years ago
    kwanning0606 Yes, I agree, there are different forms like tense, different levels of polite speech which make the ending of the same word (verb and adj) different, but try to learn the conversational one first, the easiest one !! I guess there is note on that part from Ryan...sorry, I forgot which part exactly this is mentioned in his note, but when you keep on reading, you will surely find it later

    whats the different use between "그여자의" and "그남자의겉" they are both his yes?
    11 years ago
    Natalie hey my "T" didn't come out right. hmmm
    11 years ago
    kwanning0606 그 여자의=>
    그 (that)
    여자 (girl)
    의 ( 's, possessive particle)
    so the whole phrase is =that girl's
    and for 그남자의겉...그 남자의=that man's
    겉 means outside/ the look/ appearance etc.
    I guess it should be written as 그 남자의 겉 (a space between 의 and 겉), and means "the look of that man)
    hope it helps!
