I dont know when will I be able to get a slot for a Korean language course. Remember the last time I posted smthng about enroling for a class? I did not get the chance to have a slot that time. *No more slots available within just a day or two * That's with University of the Philippines, so I decided to wait for Korean Cultural Center classes instead. And on May 10, I woke up 6am because the link for the 2nd term this year for their online registration form will be posted on facebook. They did not give specif time so I had to wake up early just to make sure.. Finally! They posted it around 11or 12. Clicked the link, Surprisingly .... "Registration Closed" I was like.. " The link was just posted like 5 or 8mins ago?! Closed already?

Thanks everyone. I hope I can get good news on Tuesday or else I'll just wait for the 3rd term of 2017.

FACT: did you know that the English word ‘boondocks’ is actually a Filipino loanword? The Tagalog word for ‘mountain’ is ‘bundok.’
    9 years ago
Sarah Jane it was adopted by occupying American soldiers in the Philippines for "remote and wild place."

Hanna-Riikka Aha~ That's how it spread to English then.

A lot of Filipino words have been derived from the Spanish language. Some Filipino words can be traced back to their original terms in Spanish. Most Filipinos have Spanish names too! Just like my middle name "Cuevas" which means caves and my surname "Espuerta" which means "basket" in spanish

The FIlipino language and Indonesian language share some vocabulary in common. They both belong to the Malayo-polynesian subgroup of the Austronesian language family.

Sarah Jane if you want to make fine distinctions between Tagalog and Filipino, perhaps you could say that the difference is that Filipino is intended to be open to borrowings from other Philippine and foreign languages, whereas Tagalog is more likely to use native words.
Sarah Jane Chinese contributed a lot of words for food and familial relationships. Spanish brought in a lot of words for furniture, time and money. Filipinos are busily incorporating English into their language. Today, you can hear a wonderful mix of Tagalog and English, called "Taglish," where English words are freely borrowed and transformed with Tagalog syntax, and Tagalog words are cheerfully mangled into something resembling English.

Thinking about it, Thai is funny sometimes. The word 'meat' means meat but in general people will think of "beef". When I talk about meat, people always think I am talking abouy beef. So, I have to be very specific and say 'animal meat' when I talk about meat in general.
Eveline Ah you dont like eating beef? Or cant?
연주 @Eve I dont eat it as in I choose not to eat it. I only have had beef a few times in my life and I don't hate it I guess I dont eat it for some religious belief
