In my culture is very normal to say Hi or Goodbye with a hug or kiss on the cheek , but I really dislike touchy feeling people, specially the opposite gender , I simple don't like people touching me,,, ahgggg

Ryan & other Koreans - today my Korean teacher received some bad news about her family and rushed to her hometown. Is it true that in this situation it is best to do nothing and pretend I do not know? If this happened to a teacher I had here, I would send a card or flowers or cook a meal and call to see if there was anything she needed.
    .
I can see how it is a private family matter and would not wish to intrude. Is this a cultural difference? I wish to be respectful to my teacher. I worry for her.

Ryan What kind of bad thing is it?? I think it's matter of her family ??? mm

Julia If I understand correctly, in Korean you say "It must be difficult for you" 함드시겠어요. In America, we would say "I'm so sorry. Do you need anything?" It is just us expressing concern and emotional support. even if there is nothing we can do. But yes, I see that family is strong in Korea, so less reliance on friends/coworkers in difficult times.

Usually, when you attend a Malay wedding, you will receive a goodie bag contented with various goods like a fake flower with a boiled egg attached to it, snacks, sometimes bamboo fan, towels and lots more :D
