    I went to Hancock Shaker Village yesterday. Shakers were a religious utopian community. Best known for their simple furniture, singing ("Tis a gift to be simple"), and pacifism. Very devote Christian group that lived in a farming community.

    today, I went to Chinese buffet with my smart phone (for flashcard app) and a notebook. While indulging my hunger, I poured some Korean into my brain.
    It attracted the attention of the waitress, who noticed I was writing Korean and Chinese. She speaks Chinese. It was kind of cool. I think she looked at me with more respect knowing I was trying to study her language. She corrected my Chinese for peach 桃子, which I had miscopied from my fortune cookie.

    In fortune cookies, they always have a chinese word. I was disappointed when mine was a word I already knew ... wine. I felt jipped! I want to learn new words every day.

    Remember how last year the stars aligned in some strange pattern and 12 men professed their love for me? Well, I seem to be getting another wave of that people-being-drawn-to-me phase. Random strangers coming up to me, being super kind, going out of their way to help me. I ate once at a restaurant in March, and then again yesterday, and the owner came over to say he remembered me and missed me.
    What's up with the stars?

    I listened to Korean music this morning. I forgot how much I like doing that. Doesn't really help me learn vocabulary, but it is pleasing to immerse my ears in the sound of Korean language. I've had too much English, not enough Korean, lately. I miss Korean.

    i always get so wound up before a trip. I don't need to be to Providence until 5 AM Saturday, and it is 5 pm Thursday now. But I am all wiggy jiggy antsy to leave now. Worried about getting lost, about getting heat exhaustion, about what food I will eat, about meeting people.
    I have been sitting here cramming Korean language lessons, and that isn't calming me down at all. So worried about trying to speak to Koreans.
